This is a very unusual horn indeed: a compensating Alexander descant with an ascending 3rd valve system. Favoured by many European players - the French in particular - the ascending 3rd valve system is something you'll either desperately want (in which case you'll know all about it) or definitely won't want (in which case, please move on!). The horn plays very well indeed, on both sides and in all registers, and intonation is excellent, despite what many people say about compensating descants. It's made in lacquered gold brass, and is generally in very good condition. There are some slight blemishes, and some evidence of dent repair. But the fabric of the horn is perfect, with awesome valve compression, and the lacquer is maybe 90%+ intact. The bell is detachable, and the instrument comes in its original hard, flat case. £POA |
