As such, these rare instruments were extremely well made - better, even, than Paxman's usual exacting, high standards - and are now highly sought-after.This specimen is from the late 1970s and is fitted with Paxman's extra-large bell, the flare being detachable. The horn is made in nickel-silver and is in excellent condition throughout: it plays just beautifully, of course, and makes that BIG, Hollywood sound; intonation is perfect and the horn is responsive and free-blowing. All the notes are in their right places and this fabulous horn plays just like a Paxman should - superbly. You can't get these for love nor money, gentlemen... £POA |
