It's an old horn - obviously - and so it's rather tatty, like most Elkhart 8Ds nowadays, and has a few patches and blemishes. But doesn't it ever play well! The valves are airtight (as airtight as they ever are on any Conn) and they move quickly, smoothly and silently; all the slides move freely and the screw rings are fine. All in all this is yet another Elkhart 8D which shows you the second you blow it why people go to such lengths to get these older 8Ds - they are so utterly lovely to play and they sound just gorgeous.
